Few begin riding late in life to have such broad experiences
in such a short time. Laurie MacDonald is just one
example of perseverance that has resulted in her linking
her experience and skills with one she feels is
the best in the industry. After her
introduction to riding at 30 years old and riding
in her first show with a dozen young girls under the age
of 11, she jumped at the chance to ride and study
Dressage in Germany. She lived near Frankfurt,
Germany where she trained for nearly three years.
She continued traveling throughout Europe
for nearly 7 years after her move to Cambridge,
England where she attended as many clinics, shows and
lectures that time allowed. Her experience
with some of the best riders in the Dressage
community inspired her to continue riding
with excellence. Her return to the US in 1997 was
sadly not attended by her Hannoverian companion, but
within a few years she was back to riding and training.
The lack of instruction left her with her first mount to
train alone and Dressage pursuits were left on the shelf
as she excelled in other horse endeavors. Her
move to Dallas in 2005 and purchase of a new 4 y/o
warmblood left her perplexed about many missing pieces,
not the least of these….saddle fitting.
Her
introduction to Debbie and Performance Saddlery’s
Trilogy saddles sparked her to believe that a GREAT ride
was not only possible for this amateur, but many
others that are looking for the feeling of
control and balance while assisting their horse.
The experience of riding in a Trilogy saddle has
revitalized her passion to be of assistance in the horse
community.
She
continues to be committed to excellence as she studies movement and saddle fitting. It is a
rare treat in her opinion to be part of something that
allows her to grow in depth and character.
Studying with Performance Saddlery has become a
staple of her ongoing training of both her horse and
herself.
